Notes
Published in 'Britannia', John Ogilby's famous strip road maps were the first engraved sheets to map England's roads. They combine a decorative title cartouche with the detailed and practical arrangement of sections or strips, in this case six strips from Chelmsford in the lower left corner of the map, through Rayleigh and Billericay, Gravesend, and on to Canterbury and Dover.
