4to. 10.25 x 7 inches. xv + [i] + xvi + 255 pp. Bound in original red cloth, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper, which has minor signs of wear. Top edge foxed, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by frontispiece and 12 pages of black and white plates and by text figures. Decorated by publisher's device on verso of title. An account of the Derby China Factory, its painters and gilders, modellers and figure makers, of patterns, marks and imitations, and a chapter on the Pinxton China Factory. Reprint of the 1876 edition with an account of the career of John Haslem (1808-84) in Derby and London in the new foreword by A. L. Thorpe (former Curator of Derby Museum and Art Gallery, and an authority on Derby Porcelain, who has added a bibliography up to date).
