Notes
An edited collection of 477 letters to and from David Scott, 1787-1805. Scott (1746-1805) went to Bombay as a free merchant, 1763-1786, returning to London where he served in the East India Company's Court of Directors from 1788 and as MP for his native Forfarshire from 1790. He continued to support private traders and opposed the Company's shipping monopoly. His Correspondents included William Pitt, Henry Dundas, Warren Hastings, Marquis Cornwallis, Lord Mornington, Marquis Wellesley, Lord Clive, Lord Castlereagh and Earl St. Vincent.
