4to. 9.75 x 7.75 inches. 226 pp. + [6] pp. Title page in red and green with decorative borders and central vignette. Bound in grey cloth with red titles, decorated with red and green borders and royal arms on front board. Rough cut fore edge. Extremities worn, including corners and head and tail of spine. Flyleaves browned and scattered foxing; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 18 leaves of plates (including tipped in frontispiece, in colour, and black and white photographs. Decorated by facsimile signatures and tailpiece vignette. Gift book published to benefit St. Dunstan's Hostel for Blinded Soldiers and Sailors, Regents Park. It contains poetry, prose and artworks including contributions by John Galsworthy, A. C.Benson, G. K. Chesterton, H. G. Wells ('The Land Ironclad') and W. Heath Robinson (artwork). The editor, George Goodchild (1888-1969) was a prolific author of over two hundred titles (mostly novels) and was also a screenwriter and film director.
