4to. 11.25 x 8.75 inches. 140 pp. Bound in original light blue cloth, gilt, in unclipped dust wrapper, which is sunned. some marks on flyleaves and traces of foxing and browning; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 97 figures, including black and white photographs, colour frontispiece, 2 colour plates in text and double page genealogical table. Decorated by city arms on foreword. A well illustrated guide to Temple Newsham House, Leeds, a Grade 1 listed Tudor/Jacobean House purchased by the Corporation in 1922. The House and estate with grounds landscaped by Capability Brown are open to the public by Leeds City Council. It houses a nationally significant collection of fine and decorative art, including the picture gallery and the Chippendale works.
