Notes
A scarce Dover title by Charles Thomas Paske (1830-1920), Deputy-Surgeon-General of the Bengal army, edited by Frederick George Aflalo (1870-1918), zoologist. This copy is inscribed by the author to his brother. A wide ranging book full of first hand observation and conversational detail. The first part looks at the progress of Dover over the last fifth years. The second part surveys the environs of Dover and includes chapters on the farmer, wild flowers and weeds, bird-life, insects and sea angling. A chapter headed The Sandgate Disaster is concerned with both the recent landslip there and the wreck of the Benvenue.
