4to. 10.25 x 7.25 inches. xx + 180 pp. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, in price clipped pictorial dust wrapper, which has a little edge wear. A few small stains on front boards and rear flyleaves; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by black and white photographs, including frontispiece and facsimiles. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. The classic autobiographical trilogy of Siegfried Sassoon (1886-1967) comprises Memoirs of a Fox-Hunting Man (1928), Memoirs of an Infantry Officer (1930)and Sherston's Progress (1936). It is here selected and illustrated by a hundred photographs, edited by Paul Fussell (1924-2012), US academic and cultural historian, known for his work, The Great War and Modern Memory (1975).
