16mo. 5.5 x 4.5 inches. Unpaginated. [32] pp. title page in blue and black. In green patterned stiff card wrapper with red titles. Some wear to edges, including head and tail of spine, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 4 wood engravings in main text. Decorated by half title, title page and tailpiece engraved vignettes, and by publisher's device on verso of title. Pictorial wood engraved endpapers on blue patterned background. The Rubaiyat is based on the paraphrased translation from the Persian of Omar Khayyam (1048-1131), poet, tentmaker and astronomer made by Edward Fitzgerald. (1809-83). Attractive small copy illustrated by George Buday, Hungarian born artist and printmaker, who emigrated to Britain in 1937 (Art UK website).
