FIRST EDITION THUS. 8vo. 8.75 x 5.75 inches. xiv + [ii] + 484 pp. + [2] pp. publisher's advertisement. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, with gilt border enclosing decorative gilt block on front board. Extremities worn at edges, corners and head and tail of spine, which is sunned. A few stains on boards, rear joint starting to crack and scattered foxing, largely confined to flyleaves and title page; otherwise a very good copy. Ninety Seven folk and fairy tales from India, by the Rev. Charles Swynnerton (1842-1928) who was Senior Chaplain to the Indian Government, originally published as Indian Nights' Entertainment (1893) and Romantic Tales from the Panjab (1903).
