8vo. 8.5 x 7 inches. Unpaginated [64 pp.]. Bound in grey tape over pictorial boards, with red and white titles. Extremities worn and spine stained; otherwise a very good copy with a clean interior. Illustrated throughout by black and white photographs. Pictorial endpapers. A documentary record of the newly built Queen Mary, which entered the service of the Cunard Line in 1936. Introduction and text by George Blake (1893-1961), Scottish journalist and social realist novelist, author of The Shipbuilders (Faber, 1935). Stewart Bale Ltd. was a family run photographic firm which operated in Liverpool from c.1911 to c.1980.
