Essays on social and economic aspects of the English revolution of the seventeenth century and on the philosophers and writers of the era. Topics discussed include the Henrician Reformation, the Civil War, the concept of the Norman Yoke and the Agrarian Legislation of the Revolution. Christopher Hill (1912-2003) was a wide ranging Marxist historian, specialising in the seventeenth century. Reprint of the first edition of 1958.
