Extremities a little worn, and front hinge just starting to crack, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 5 plates, including portrait frontispiece, protected by tissue guard and a diagram. The first Ward Lock edition of the Origin of Species, first published 1859. Text based on the final text as Darwin left it, the sixth edition of 1872 having been revised in 1876. (Freeman 477).
