FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 7.5 x 5 inches. 30 + [2] pp. In pictorial stiff card boards, in matching price clipped dust wrapper, which has very slight edge wear. The boards are similar, but otherwise a very good clean copy. Illustrated by 48 pp. of black and white photographic plates and by text figure. Decorated by title page vignette and by initial. Dust wrapper designed by Berthold Wolpe. King Penguin study of misericords, the decorative carvings found on the undersides of the tip-up seats in ecclesiastical chancel stalls.
