Oblong 4to. 8.25 x 9 inches. 34 + [1] + [1] pp. publisher's series advertisement. In stiff card pictorial wrapper with red spine tap, in matching dust wrapper. Traces of minor wear, but otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white. Decorated by title page vignette. Pere Castor's Wild Animal Books were high quality, beautifully illustrated children's books, written by Lida Durdikova (1899-1955), born in Prague, and originally published in France in the 1930s, this title appearing as Martin pecheur in 1938. Translated by Rose Fyleman (1877-1957), children's writer, poet and translator. With the lithographs of Feodor Stepanovich Rojankovsky ('Rojan') (1891-1970), Russian emigre children's book illustrator.
