Flyleaves browned, but otherwise a very good copy. Spare printed label tipped in at end. 1924 signature on first free endpaper. Decorated by title page vignette. An early account of the views and career of Mahatma Gandhi,which helped to advance the Indian leader's reputation in the west. By Romain Rolland (1866-1944), French writer who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1916. He was influenced by Indian philosophy and embraced the views of Rabindranath Tagore and of Gandhi, whom he met in 1931. A scarce early edition of this title.
