Illustrated throughout in colour and black and white. Decorated by vignette title and by vignettes on opening pages. Pictorial endpapers. A much praised classic collection of nursery rhymes, compiled by Kathleen Mary Lines (1902-88), a Canadian editor and anthologist, specialising in children's literature. Copiously illustrated by the artwork of Harold Jones (1904-92), artist, writer of children's books and a prolific illustrator, including three dust wrappers for titles by H. G. Wells. Lavender's Blue was his most acclaimed work. Third reprint of title first published 1954.
