FIRST EDITION. FIRST PRINTING. 8vo. 7.25 inches x 4.5 inches. [iv] + 307 pp. Bound in original grey cloth, with red titles and block on front board. A little wear and light staining of extremities and bumping of corners. Spine sunned and occasional foxing near front; otherwise a very good copy. Two signatures on first free endpaper and 1930 signature on verso. Illustrated by pictorial endpapers, advertising Vanguard Press. Peter Alexeevich Kropotkin (1842-1921) was an anarcho-communist, revolutionary, historian and economist, who spent much of his life in exile, in Switzerland, France and England. The topics covered by this pamphlet collection include The Spirit of Revolt, Modern Science and Anarchy, Prisons,Revolutionary Government, The Russian Revolution, An Appeal to the Young and his Encyclopedia Britannica article on Anarchism. At the end is a partial bibliography of Kropotkin. Edited by Roger Nash Baldwin (1884-1981), US civil rights activist and co-founder of the American Civil Liberties Union, honoured in his later years. A first printing of the first edition.
