All edges gilt. Gilt patterned endpapers. A little wear to corners and head and tail of spine which is darkened. Some staining of boards, but otherwise a very good copy with clean interior. signed by author at head of title. Illustrated by portrait frontispiece, 3 folding plates and by numerous text figures, some whole page. Decorated by publisher's devices. A monograph on the German genre painter, Ludwig Knaus (1829-1910) of the Dusseldorf School, by Ludwig Pietsch (1824-1911), German painter and art critic, born in Danzig. A high quality limited collector's edition. First edition published 1896.
