Notes
Original issue of this newspaper containing a fascinating variety of notices and advertisements on the front page; the inside and back pages are a mixture of national and Kentish news and a Hop Intelligence and Corn Exchange section which supplies corn and other commodity prices. A long account is given of the facts relating to the murder of Mr. Weare by Joseph Hunt and others. In Kent one hundred female convicts and their children were to embarked on board the Brothers at Woolwich for transportation to New South Wales. A 'dreadful fire' broke out in a plumbery in St. James's-street, Dover when a bottle of turpentine burst and was set on fire by the lead melting fire. In spite of the efforts of men from the Artillery and Coast Blockade a carpenter's premises and a bakehouse were also burnt down.
