Synopsis
A watercolour, executed in muted tones, of a rustic dwelling with a maid in the foreground hanging washing to dry, as a lady watches from within.
Item Description
Watercolour on paper, 9 x 7 inches. Framed and mounted in birdseye walnut veneer contemporary frame. One or two faint foxing marks but in very good general condition. Intriguing naive watercolour, signed simply 'T. Simons pinxit Hythe Academy'. Probably the work of a student of a long-forgotten Hythe school. The scene depicted may well be in what was Prospect Road, with hills clearly showing in the background.
