Folio. 12.25 x 9.25 inches. xi + [i] + 189 pp. Bound in original dark blue cloth, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper. A fine copy. Illustrated by 52 colour plates, including frontispiece, numbered in text. Decorated by tailpiece and endpiece vignettes. A detailed world bibliography of flower books by Sacheverell Sitwell (1897-1988) and Wilfred Blunt (1901-87), writer, artist and teacher, accompanied by additional explanatory articles. The contributors include botanist, W. T. Stearn (1911-2001), who collaborated with Blunt on The Art of Botanical Illustration (1950 and 94 editions), Patrick Synge (1910-82), botanist, plant hunter and author and Handasyde Buchanan, London book collector and dealer. The first edition was published in 1956. An attractively illustrated and produced volume.
