An autobiographical textbook of john farleigh, an important wood engraver of the twentieth century, best known for his illustrations for 'the adventures of a black girl in her search for god' and 'the man who died'. farleigh also uses this volume as a textbook for wood engraving.with vignette and full page illustrations and images throughout. the cover is decorated with a montage (dated sept. 1 1939) of wood-engravings found within the book.
