8vo 9x 6.5 inches. 46 + [2] pp. Bound in original red and white stiff pictorial boards, in matching dust wrapper which has a little edge wear on spine; a few small dents on lower edge of front board; otherwise a very good clean copy. 1944 signature on first free endpaper. Illustrated by 8 colour plates and by black and white text figures. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. A volume in Collins's Britain in Pictures series published during the war between 1941 and 1945. A history of English printed books, by the book designer, Francis Meynell (1891-1975).
