These are to certify, that george pierson is son of stephen pierson and frances his wife, who was daughter of thos and mary coppins was born in lawfull wedlock in the parish of wrotham in the county of kent the fourteenth day of january in the yrar one thousand eight hundred and twenty two at whose birth we were present… registered at dr. william's library, redcross-street, near cripplegate, london.

Notes
Dr Williams's Library and archive of noncomformity was opened in 1729. From 1743 it operated a voluntary register of births, mainly for noncomformists living in the areas surrounding London, who wished to avoid having their children baptized in the Anglican church. These register eventually came to hold some 49,000 birth records, and are now held in the National Archives. They were discontinued when civil registration began in 1837. Numerous members of the Pierson family, many of them working as small tradesmen, lived in the village of Wrotham in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. A scarce copy of an original Dr Williams's Library birth certificate.
