Extremities a little worn and joints formerly repaired with tape, leaving marks front and back. A little foxing of fly leaves, title and last (advertisement) page; otherwise a very good copy. An account of the life and career of Dante Alighieri (1265-1321), followed by a discussion of his writings. It includes an Appendix, Some hints to beginners. Arthur John Butler (1844-1910), Dante scholar and translator and editor of later texts on literature and history, was professor of Italian Language and Literature at UCL from 1898.
