FIRST EDITION. 8vo. 8.5 x 5.75 inches. 203 pp. Bound in original green cloth, gilt, in unclipped pictorial dust wrapper with slightly sunned spine. A little scattered foxing, including fore edge, but otherwise a very good copy. A few ink lines in some margins and a note on rear pastedown. Illustrated by 8 water colour, including frontispiece, 8 pencil drawing plates, 8 pages of black and white photographic plates and by 25 diagrams in text. Decorated by publisher's device on title page. Classic study of climbing roses and ramblers, illustrated by the author, Graham Stuart Thomas (1909-2003), horticulturist and rose expert, appointed National Trust Gardens Advisor in 1955.
