Large 8vo. 9.25 x 6.75 inches. xiv + 526 +[1] pp. Bound in original red cloth, with black titles and pictorial colour image fixed to front board. Extremities worn, including head and tail of spine, with a little sunning and staining. Flyleaves browned and light foxing of edges; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by 31 colour plates, including frontispiece and by 41 black and white plates, numbered in text. A collection of fairy tales and short stories by children's authors, Amy Steedman and Louey Chisholm (1863-1948). Chisholm's husband was Edwin Chisholm Jack of Edinburgh, one of the publishers of this work. The authorship of the original stories is attributed at the end and writers include Hans Andersen, the Brothers Grimm and Arthur Ransome.
