[viii] + 239 + [1] pp. Bound in original blue cloth, gilt, in unclipped dust wrapper, with edge wear with some loss, including head and tail of spine which is sunned and wrapper foxed. Blue marbled endpapers. Top edge blue. Minor wear to extremities and a little foxing largely confined to page edges; otherwise a very good copy. Illustrated by frontispiece. Volume in the post war Uniform Edition of Evelyn Waugh (1903-66). First published in 1934, the fourth of Waugh's published novels, includes autobiographical element, including the breakdown of his marriage and his trip to the Amazon rainforest, which inspired the Brazilian jungle setting of the second half of the book.
